What Floats Your Boat?

What makes you happy?

What gives you a sense of contentment, safety, or peace? For Christians, the obvious answer is “Jesus.” Having the Holy Spirit within means that He is always present, so we can have the joy of the Lord always with us and the blessing of peace.

But sometimes the key that opens the door to our hearts so we can feel Jesus’ love is held by other Christians.

There’s a song by Jason Gray called “Holding the Key.” It’s a beautiful metaphor for the way we all hold a key that will open other people’s hearts. And, when we use the key to open their hearts by listening to them with love, our own hearts will be opened. Proverbs 11:25 sums it up —

“Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered.”

Whenever I meet with my Soul Sonshine teammates — even though it’s virtual and often just in a Messenger chat group — I sense that each of us is offering a key, ready to open the heart of another so we can all be watered, while richly and deeply experiencing God’s love.

A natural progression

Then I thought — why keep this group to myself? Why not invite other like-minded believers and seekers to a chat group within…
